Weekends Occasionally Suck
So, I was planning on making my usual excursion to my boyfriend’s house, but I found I had way too much studying to do on Friday night to warrant going over there until Saturday morning.
At about 6:00 Saturday morning I woke up with a bunch of phlegm right at the back of my throat that I found myself coughing up for the next hour or so. I proceed to get ready to go anyway, but then decide I’m too sick to continue.
In an effort to cheer myself up, I decided I would plant the plant babies that had recently rooted. This went fine, and I found a very cute snail that I showed off to all of my housemates.
After lunch, I completely passed out. I was in and out of a fever all day yesterday. I watched almost all of the first season of Deadwood in between naps.
This morning, I felt somewhat better. I’ve been in and out of a slight fever all day, but with the help of ibuprofen I feel a lot better.
However, at about 12pm I did something really fucking stupid. I dropped my iPhone. In the toilet. OK, so it didn’t turn on after I snatched it out. I spent the rest of another couple of hours freaking out and trying to figure out what to do. Eventually I stop, come to my senses, stick my phone in a big bowl of rice and put it far back in the music room so that I stop fooling with it.
It didn’t really help that I have a phone interview tomorrow and I asked him to call my cell phone.
I ran Kara with my guild, which took about four and a half hours (we’re getting faster!), and after eating dinner and trying to do some homework, I had to try out my phone again (about 9 hours after putting it in with the rice). And though it was somewhat sluggish, it fucking works. Everything works, and there’s no water behind the screen. The warranty is thoroughly voided (you can see the little water sensor has turned red), but I don’t care because it works.
Even though it does appear to be working, I’m leaving it off and in the rice for another night. But gosh, I really didn’t want to think about having to live without my iPhone. (I’m sure I would have ponied up and bought a 3G, but I like *my* iPhone, damnit.)
